This one day tour will allow you to experience one Scottish east coast distillery and also a similar one on the west coast of Scotland. With two dissimilar whisky’s you will in your day see two very different manufacturing processes as well as getting a chance to drive across Scotland’s central belt as you head from the south of Edinburgh to the north of Glasgow.
You will head initially through the beautiful rolling East Lothian countryside – famed for its growing of barley – via the market town of Pencaitland to Glenkinchie Distillery, owned by Diageo. Here you will get to see the manufacturing and distillation process that produces their famous lightly coloured single malt whisky – and providing you are old enough, to sample some of their product which can also be purchased on site.
After this tour you will head west across the central belt of Scotland – home to over three million of Scotland’s five million residents – to the banks of the River Clyde to the west of Glasgow where you will visit the Old Auchentoshan Distillery – owned by Suntory – the only distillery in Scotland that triple distils all of the product it makes. Listen as you tour as to why this process has been chosen and what it adds to their unique product. At the end of the tour you can also buy these whiskies in their distillery shop.
At the end of this visit you will head with your driver / guide back east to Edinburgh.
NB: A SIMILAR EXPERIENCE CAN ALSO BE ARRANGED OVER ONE DAY OR LONGER. YOU CAN CHOOSE ANY ONE OR MORE OF SCOTLAND’S ONE HUNDRED FABULOUS DISTILLERIES.
